I got an interesting part with my latest eEuroparts order - an adapter to use late (and available) crush sleeves on early c900 and all 99 gearboxes:
It fits onto late sleeves to match internal dimension and width. External dimension is about 1.5mm larger than the early sleeve but it should clear ok.
Having just had a baby I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to use it in anger for a little while.

Re: early crush sleeves
They have about 10 stock (or sent out to various people to prototype) and 10 more at the machinists ready to go. I have installed one, but haven't put it in a car yet. They are available on the website now.

Assuming it works ok (and if you've fitted on it sounds like it should) I'll be ordering a few more next time. Just got to hope the later crush sleeve stays available for a long while!
Re: early crush sleeves
I'll take full credit for those existing
I made those spacers for the last few early gearboxes I rebuilt and I mentioned it to Jordan, who mentioned it to Eeuroparts and then they did a batch of them. I'm sure my royalty check is in the mail

Just 1018 cold rolled steel, it doesn't have to be anything fancy, I mean the thing butts up against something is designed to squish! For my competition gearboxes I always use a solid sleeve and lap to get final bearing preload.

So those will work on 4-speeds too?
The eEuro page says 'hardened tool steel....'
I love mystery materials!

Re: early crush sleeves
I'll see if I can find out what it is made from. It should work on 99's. For a solid sleeve 1.5" x .095 roll cage tubing works great. I just am finalizing one for an 89+ box. Still need to turn it down some more... but the lathe and press are in two different locations!
