Reviving older race tires

I picked up a set of HWET Hoosiers at Carlisle this weekend.

Wondering if any of the "tricks" for reviving old tires work.

Over the counter tire traction compounds are expensive, but I have heard some home brew remedies for this.

Brush on ATF and wrap with saran wrap...

WD40 and Saran Wrap...

MEK and Simple Green...

Anyone have any concoctions that work?

Does it then require a smokey burnout too?

brake fluid makes rubber expand, silicone will absorb into rubber, you might try those? some more detail there

Read on the interwebs that spraying wd40 onto the tread area will help to liven up dry tires.

I would have to agree, Sprayed them down nice and wet and let them sit for a few days and there is a night and day difference. I believe the trick is to spray it down, and wrap it with plastic. I cheated and didn't wrap it.
