final word on shot peening an cryo treating for c900 trans

Postby s900t8v » Thu Jun 20, 2013 4:05 am

hey all

just read through some older threads where people (james) said that he has results for how much of a difference shot peening makes to gear strength

also read threads about how good cryo treating (and that ppl know ppl claim it's improved their c900 box 3-4x) lol

whats the final word on these processes, the threads were back in 2006-2008, do ppl have data on how effective?

cheers :)

Well, I don't think there will ever be a "final word". There's really no way to statistically analyze with any sort of reasonable confidence interval the benefit of it on a c900 trans specifically. Bottom line: There's enough data for cyrotreating in general to say that "It can't hurt and might help", so you might as well pony up if you want to increase your odds!

What he said. I'm also interested in REM treating which offers sort of a combination of both procedures.
