Flyoff Hydraulic Handbrakes

Postby SwedeSport » Wed Jul 17, 2013 11:12 am

There are a ton of commercially available handbrake setups available ranging from 50 bucks to 200.00.

I would imagine most of it is coming from China. Maybe one of them is worth a shit...

This one stood out from the rest. Twin pistons in a push pull config so that you can individually control each wheel.

I seem to remember hearing that the master cylinders in those ebay handbrakes were junk and always needed to get replaced with a better unit.

I've had good luck with the CNC staging brake:

The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off :eyebrows:

I found some that use Wilwood components.

I will probably end up making one just for my application. That way I can keep my interior (console) intact.

Are you running the split brakes for hill climbing?

I have not done anything but shop for stuff, and read what others build.

I do plan to put on in the tan 86 900, but mostly for RallyX. I dunno that I would have much occasion to use it on the Reading Hillclimbs. If the corners were tighter switchbacks it might work, but it would be fun at an Autox.
