fuel issue

first off thank you everyone with all the help you guys provide (you have helped me save an outcast un-loved old saab..the car was given to me because he wanted to see a "saab guy" with her otherwise it was the junk yard....... anyway 1984 900s 8v turbo I am getting way to much fuel and hydro locking the motor at one time I had the car running but couldn't get her to idle well i fucked with that little allen in the fuel distributor and now just dumps fuel...what did I fuck up and how can I fix it I turned that thing soo many times in both directions I have no idea where to start as a base jacked around with the air meter too.... yep bad chris bad

The air metering flap may just be sticking up? Probably time to take it apart and clean really well before you try to base line it.

If it's spraying that much fuel something else is wrong besides the adjustment screw.

plugs out .. when you cycle the key you can see it run out of the cyl. and while cranking I would guess a good 4 tablespoons or so (a very noticeable large amount onto inner fender.....seemed to run fine but not idle and started messing around now just dumping

Like Drew said, have you taken the rubber bellows off the top of the fuel metering flap? Is it stuck open in this position?

no seems to move fine slight resistance up and drop it and it seems to bounce on that spring

Then the metering pin in the distribution block might be stuck up. Pull the injectors out of the intake manifold - if they're spraying then you'll have to take the distribution block apart.

have not gotten around to dist. r & r ... everything was cool I had the car running and I started to feel really good about her now I would say about 3 revolutions and the motor hydro locks with fuel. like you guys mentioned suspected debris in the fuel dist. not anything I did by jacking with that screw right (mine does not have that little sleeve like the one Geoff posted)..air horn plate seems to be sitting level and centered in the bore ... thanks again guys

well yesterday I went out to my 9-5 for lunch and it was gone, someone stole my car and with only liability on it right now it's a total loss. we live pay to pay and only a couple hundred bucks in the bank looks like i'm going to have to get this thing up and running I guess this might be what I have to drive...can I take the screws out of the housing and only take the top half of the distributor off or do I have to pull the whole thing complete? well a non-running unknown will have to be my driver going into winter lots-o-fun

found that i had turned that adjustment screw too far and it came unthreaded....next question is that threaded adjustment screw does it fit inside the clip on the arm or does it rest against it?
