Grabby clutch

Postby Scott » Sun Dec 22, 2013 1:41 am

Hi all,

My 74 has a grabby, almost unusable clutch. I've had one feel exactly like this when the seal under the flywheel was leaking and got gear oil (I guess engine oil comes out under the flywheel :) on the plate, however this time there is no sign of a leak. Can the pressure plate with sticky fingers make the car act like?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Doubtful that the pressure plate is playing a role here. Much more likely a leak in the master cyl and or air in the system somewhere. I would inspect for leaks and if none are visible re-prime the slave by actuating it back and forth while on a gravity feed. Then hook everything back up and power bleed the system to get the air out.
There is no such thing as too low or too stiff.

That makes sense, I'll take a look. Thanks for the reply.
