Parts Diagram for Quaife Qdh7j Classic 900 ?

Postby gmreider » Mon Jan 20, 2014 2:01 pm

Has anyone ever seen an exploded view or a parts diagram of the c900 Quaife. As most of you know you split the unit to install and reassemble once in place. There are 6 Bellville washers ( concave / convex) inside. I am not certain how the washers stack together. The unit got bumped on the bench and the stack came apart. My years of experience with other cars tells me that I have the stack correct, but looking further it could go many ways. I put in a e-mail to Quaife ,but no reply as of yet. Jordan posted me some photos the other day before I started the install, but his is a 9000 unit and is some what different. Sometimes the simplest things mess you up.

I might have a picture at home on the PC. I also have a brand new unit at Scanwest waiting its new home in a spare gear box.
You could give them a call and see if Rob recalls the arrangement.

Ok . I got a reply from the US distributor. The layout is )()()(. He sent a picture of a similar stack. The stack pack is supposed to stand proud (above ) the gears and when all clamped together creates a preload. I attached the photos. I had the stack correct, but was glad I checked. I have the diff bearings properly preloaded and The R & P backlash set. I'm going to pull it apart to put the stub axles on the side covers. I will take my quaife apart and take some pictures for any future reference should anyone need it.

The distributor told me he has never gotten exploded views of any of the unit , even though he asked for them. Secret stuff ???? Thought that's what patents were for?
Thanks for your responses.

Found it. It is hard to see, but you can make out the direction of the cup.
The original full size photo is dated Feb 2007 at a whopping 1.45 MB
