Main Bearings
So i was looking at bearing shells and noticed that the 94+ cars use a different part than the pre-93 cars. It's both 2L and 2.3, the later ones have 3 larger holes on the shell vs the standard one. The updated bearings fit, but is there preferred style?

Re: Main Bearings
I always thought they were the same? Unless the later blocks have 3 oiling passages drilled into the bearing cradle I can't imagine it would matter of oil only flows thru the middle one anyway.

Re: Main Bearings
I assumed it just kind of pooled up in the others, but maybe that wouldn't matter. All I know is that EPC gives different part numbers for each and all are superseded to the last revision. Pre 94 cars don't seem to be included in that.

Re: Main Bearings
might be related to the later engines with all the attempts for improved efficiency? As I recall the sludging issue was partly due to the higher blow-bye designed into the pistons...that and lack of regular oil changes. So maybe they were trying to maintain a thinner oil clearance...just a guess
