Moogs on SAS Spacers. When i actually installed i placed the progressive (shorter coils) upward as recommended in the documentation that came with the springs.
As promised, the pic of the gasajusts which still worked fine after what appears to be decades of abuse!
Coil height just about matches the springs I removed, the moogs being just a hair shorter. I don't think they were SPG springs as they are progressive and were no markings whatsoever. I have a feeling that they are inferior aftermarket springs. You could see where some of the coils were actually rubbing eachother AC Delco and Raybestos springs both have this design so it is likely to be one of them.
Driving impressions were very good with these. I'll post pictures tomorrow of the ride height, but even with 1 SAS spacer on each side the car looks level front to back.

Yeah, that's not a stock spring you pulled out. You say its the same height front to back now with those new overload coils and a SAS spacer... makes me wonder what springs are on the front of your car.

Been following your suspension threads but now confused. Were those the rear springs out of your SPG? In normal use, rear SPG springs with SAS spacers seem plenty adequate to prevent rubbing with 16" super aeros, etc. The Moog cc205's are std height (I thought.) Adding the SAS spacers seems overly high for an SPG? Really like to see some pics and driving impressions before I make the switch on my '93 Green/Tan SPG clone project. Thanks!

Hope this helps you. The front springs are definitely an unknown, so i can't help much there. The moogs are firm springs that remind me of the much more high end coil overs that i have in my 9-5.
Although i have a set of brand new kyb gr2s in my garage, i found the existing rear shocks (adjustible kyb 'gas-adjust') to be like new and the previous owner had apparently maxed out the pressure setting. In fact they were adjusted so firmly that it made them difficult to install. In any case, it seems to be a great pairing with these springs.
I am now considering stiffer front springs and upgrading my front from the GR-2 to the gas-adjust.

Yes specifically moog overloads from rockauto matched to kyb gasadjusts. I used one spacer on each side as shown in my photos which i installed at the bottom of the spring. I left the factory rubber on top of the spring. You can gain more height from adding a spacer at the top as well so that might be the cause of the confusion.

Another note on springs. I mentioned that the previous springs were bottoming and causing the tire to rub the fender when carrying heavy loads. I also saw evidence of the coils rubbing together. The rear bumpstops on my car are long gone and that is certainly a problem for carrying loads. My advice is that if you plan to carry loads on non- overload springs and do not run the spacers then you need bumpstops or air cylinders to assist. Previous experience has shown that stiff springs like the ones on my 9-5 coilovers dont need bumpstops because they are so stiff and this seems true for the moog overloads as well.

Looking at the pic, it does not seem all that high in the rear with the spacers. I'm still curious about the Moog's. I thought they were stock ride height if not higher. What size tires are you running? Sorry for all the questions but trying to make a decision on springs/shocks etc. Thanks!

Sam, it seems strange that your car seems to sit at stock height with the overload coils and SAS spacers. Mongo's car (a page or so back) sits much higher with the same springs and spacers. Are you smuggling lead?
KYB Gas-A-Just, really? I had those on an SPG once, terrible terrible shock from my experience, way too stiff to control the movement of the suspension. And they're not adjustable. KYB claims that they "self adjust". right.... The GR-2s seemed a lot better.

SAS over here makes spacers that go under/over 99/C900 rear coils (shown in one of Sam's posts above) and replace the stock rubber isolators with 1/2" of extra urethane.
They also fit 9000s on the bottom of the rear spring. Not the top though as you've pointed out the spring diameter is different. I used them on the rear on my '97 Aero.
Regarding the rear axle; My 9000 is currently on jackstands in the garage so I took some quick measurements. It appears as if the 9000 rear axle is only 1" wider than the C900 axle between the hub faces. However the center of the pivot points (bushing housings) on the axle are about 4" wider than on a C900. It may not be worth the effort to put the 9000 axle in. (note that all my measurements were done with a measuring tape while not being all that careful). Another thought that's been on my mind recently for a C900/99 rear axle would be that the axle could be cut between the bushing housing and the spindle. It could then be sleeved with another tube and the axle widened. Repeat on the other side of the axle.

I don't have the gigantic black spacer pictured above, no idea what those are. If that is what normally comes stock, its definitely not what i have.

Just for kicks I picked up a set of Moog cc205's from Summit Racing.
They measure 12.5" with 15mm bar diameter and 8.75 coils which is comparable to the stock springs as shown here:

I recently replaced the rear springs and shocks on the '93 c900t because I was experiencing frequent rubbing when heavily loaded on the right side with 16" 9000 Aeros and 205/55's. Mileage is approx 180k. The old springs were white on left and pale green on right which is correct according to the chart class 2 chassis. Reading more closely, I noticed the springs are supposed to be different. Seems the right side springs are intended to be slightly softer. Anyone know why the specifications call for different springs? Suspension geometry? Torque? Driver weight when alone? Road crown?
I also compared the Moog CC205's, Stock and silver SPG springs. The Moog's and Stocks are basically the same length and bar size except the Moogs have a progressive winding. The SPG's are heavier bar and 1/2" shorter. In the end I went for the SPG's with SAS spacers and Koni Red Adjustables on the softest of the three settings. Big improvement!
