Emergency ! 78 turbo, fuel pump removal!

So I need to get the bung nut out to remove the pump! What Direction do you turn the nut to remove the pump! it's stated you can use a hammer and draft to remove it , what is the best way to go about that, with out breaking the tabs!
Looking at the "ovlve" tool , it is too small for the Saab pump nut,so that won't work !

Really want to get this 99 turbo Running ! I know I am very close ! I just need to clean the pump and screen! There is a Road rally in 2 weeks, where this car will be a highlight!

Pretty sure it's the regular unthread direction, so anti-clockwise.

I did try using a hammer and chisel but the metal is quite soft so I ended up doing a bit of damage, but it did work.

Lube it up first. Then use the hammer and something with a big flat edge as a chisel. Light taps gets it moving and counter clock wise does loosen it. It only has to turn about 30 degrees and then you lift it out.

Is this a plastic tank or a metal tank?

The metal ones are just a regular bolt. With mine we put fresh gas in and then drained it from the bottom and refilled. They sell these tiny clear plastic filters which are great for putting old tanks back into service.

Use the widest tool you can fit, something that will spread out the impacts to the tabs, and take turns with each tab. It's held in with tabs underneath and rotated into detents. Once they get out of their detents, the assebley rotates a few more degrees and lifts right out.
Hope your intake screen boot is still good.

Use some good silicone lube on the O ring during reassembly.

The intake screen boot is a non-issue as one from a plastic tank can be used. It's the sleeve between the pump and the bayonet cap that could be a real nightmare.
