old 99 b motor...of all of those sensors which is the one for the temp gauge (sending unit)?....crazy saab needed 4 different things screwed into the thermostat housing to monitor temp.
manual shows it as the yellow wire but I'm getting no response at the gauge...fan does kick on but I'm afraid to let her run much longer because I'm not sure where it's at so I never did hear the fan turn off

The temp sensor is the one on the very front of the housing with the flat, round (kinda mushroom shaped) connector. The yellow wire is the correct one. it's the one that has 1/8" NPT threads.

well that sucks because all I did was remove it and clean the housing now I have no temp. gauge....fan comes on but I only let it run for a minute I didn't let it cycle off because I wasn't sure how hot I was getting....did a once over on the wiring and do not see anything out of place... any ideas? can these sending units still be found?

Try grounding the yellow wire with the key on. Temp gage should peg iirc. Those senders can go bad but they are common enough and easy to replace.

It's just a typical VDO sending unit, no special application. I ran one once from a '71 Plymouth and it worked fine.
Just be sure it has 1/8" NPT threads.
