Scanwest had these made by a local machine shop. Reproduction of the rally car units.
Not sure if you "need" these for a street car, but what the Hell. No excuses to turning up the boost.
Finally get around to installing them. One side at a time to keep the diff in its happy place.
Have to remove the OEM sheet metal cup. Pretty easy cutting with the portaband. Must stop short as the tripod join up and you would cut into the base metal if not careful.
Polished up the tripod and a trial fit. Very close tolerance fit. Cold soaking the inner driver in the freezer overnight. See how it fits tomorrow.

Are you re-fitting an o-ring or are you just going to weld them for grease retention?

I’ll use the O ring. Maybe a tack or two. The sheet metal one had a single MIG tack and it did not melt the O ring. TIG might put too much heat into it?
Another option is a bead of silicone along the seam.

The freezer was the money. Room temperature sleeve and some assembly lube.

In classic Dennis style, never quite done. Add some spenders to the belt (O-ring). Also to keep debris from collecting.

To take full advantage of the sleeve, stitch welded the base and the fingers to the sleeve. This creates a torque tube to transmit load and not just a shoring up of the fingers.
I’m pretty sure I smoked the O ring, so a new fillet of RTV

Re: Upgrade inner driver cups
Nice! Does ScanWest still have these? Any idea if they have them for the older/smaller tripods?
We spit out a driveshaft at NEFR last year. The tripod got all chewed up. Upon replacement, Mike found that the replacement inner driver was 10mm longer (cup length) than the one that was in the car. I don't remember if these were the earlier or later inner drivers. We couldn't figure out why one part was shorter than another. Maybe at one point there was a L/R driver or a difference between Automatic/Manual?

Not sure if they have them in stock. I’m sure they can have the machine shop turn more. Not sure what the cost is, as I traded some welding and matching for them. Give them a call and ask for Craig Haugen.
Not sure on the length difference. These fit perfect on the manual. Ref the gearbox box was from a “newer” 5 speed. ‘89-90ish

I just finished re-assembling the 4-speed/Quaife for Frank's new engine. I hate to tear it back apart, but these may fall in to the 'need' category

Super easy if it is not installed in the car. Just do one at a time and keep track of the shims. New thread sealant on the bolts and good to go.
Of course someone to weld them.
