NO SPEEDO/CRUISE?

Hey all!

I've been putting a ton of miles on my 95 9000 driving 320mi ea. way from Boise to Bend.

Yesterday, I was about 20 miles into my drive, cruise was on.
I was fiddling a little with the trip computer and heard a little 'pop' from the fuse box area and the car started to slow.
I saw the cruise had kicked out, but then noticed I had no Speedo!

I finished my drive by tach, somehow not getting pulled over by the 4 cops I saw. OSP is notorious for their lack of sympathy (but not really as bad as they say ; ) and my knee kills me if I can't use cruise. The CC has always worked in this car (my 94 is intermittent).

Any ideas as to the culprit? I've checked the fuses, did I blow my Cruise Control Module?

Any other ideas?

Could obviously be a few culprits, but I have heard of the speedo drive gear in the transmission breaking. That would probably be worst case scenario.

Yeah, my local indy said the same thing.
What are some of the other 'obvious' culprits?
I'm away from my tools, manuals, etc., and I'd rather not
have to drive back without speedo/CC, but it beats driving the BMW. : P
