THE CAR WAS SERIOUSLY MODIFIED TO ORIGINALLY HAVE TAKEN A B202,HIGH PEFORMANCE MOTOR,WITH A HUGE TURBO MANY,MANY YEARS BEFORE......BUT THEN THE PROJECT GOT ABANDONED,AND THE POWERPLANT SOLD OFF ETC....THEY ENDED UP WITH THE 'ROLLING SHELL'.
I WEN'T TO LOOK AT IT,AS A PROSPECTIVE SHELL FOR 'BUILDING' MY ULTIMATE 'HILLCLIMB' 99 AND OR /RALLY CAR?
'OHLINS' FITTED ON THE FRONT,TIED INTO THE CAGE.
THE BULKHEAD,AND ENGINE BAY FLOOR MOVED BACK AROUND TWO INCHES,AND C900 STEERING RACK FITTED....SO BESPOKE PEDAL BOX NEEDED,AS THE CAGE NOW CROSSE'S OVER THROUGH THE HEATER BOX VOID,DIRECTLY IN LINE WITH WHERE THE STANDARD BRAKE SERVO WOULD GO.
WAY BACK WHEN? THE GUY THAT BUILT IT,HAD ALSO STARTED WORK,ON THE REAR SUSPENSION,INCORPORATING 'TOWERS'(WE CALL THIS TURRRETING) INTO THE REAR FLOOR,TIED IN WITH THE ROLL CAGE,TO INCORPORATE 'OHLINS' ON THE REAR AS WELL.
THIS WAS ABOUT AS FAR AS HE GOT.....? WITH JUST SOME SQUARE TUBING,TO HOLD THE 'ARSE END' UP TO MOVE THE CAR AROUND....
BUT THE MODIFICATIONS ARE SUCH,THAT IT WOULD NOT BE 'ABLE TO 'ENTER' ANY OF THE 'HISTORIC' RALLY CLASS HERE IN THE UK
IT 'COULD' BE 'ELIGIBLE' FOR SPRINT&HILLCLIMB IN THE UK........FULLY BUILT?
BUT,I DECIDED TO STICK WITH A 1976 COMBI-COUPE, FOR 'MY' BUILD...
