Do you think this accumulator would work? Mine is still leaking. Good thing I don't smoke.

Dude, your former sponsor IPS has them (http://ips-parts.com/ for those who don't know). They list a different part number (and price) between a 99 and a 900.
What happened to the one I sold you for your 99? That thing probably only had 1500 stage miles on it :-) The price has doubled since then!

I bought the one that was listed at $65..but when I put it in my cart, it wound up being $96....oh well, still cheaper than the others.

Had to replace the overflow tube on the gas tank last night too...guess I filled the tank up too far.

If it's any help.........

99 accumulator;

up to and inc 1977 - 0 438 170 001

1978 - 0 438 170 001

as from 1979 - 0 438 170 010.

I think the accumulators from 1979 are the same on 99's and 900's, but check first!

www.IPS-parts.com =

Not as cheap as eEuroparts but they've always been good to me and, if you need to, you can call to speak with an actual person who knows Saab parts.

Quick delivery for us Left Coasters, too.

Got the piece today..yea...

tried to put it on...bolt frozen, in the process of drilling it out, realized the tank was rusty around the bracket and started to leak.

So...now I need a fuel tank. Or a switch to a cell. doh!

anybody have a good later 99 tank that they could send me?

Oh man that stinks!

I chucked a perfectly good metal tank from my rally car about a year ago because I couldnt see it ever being used. I have a tank from a 74 you are welcome to but its an early style and would require using an external fuel pump and i'm not sure its in that great of shape inside anyway since the car sat so long, definatly filled with thick goo that might come out with lots of rinsing with gas. You could fit a tank out of a 900 which are a $.10 per 12, but you would have a cut the sheet metal out of the donor 900 thats directly behind the fuel tank, they put a big bulge in the rear of the 900 tank to extend the capacity. You'd also have to swap the filler to the passenger side. Cell may be the best option?

Yea or patch this tank. It's one spot..might make sense to fix it, then again, if I go w/ the cell in the trunk, won't need a skidplate for it.

Hell, I could leave the stock tank there to act as a skidplate (kidding)

Cell in the trunk is kinda a pain, as you will have touble hooking up to the stock filler because the fuel cell will sit high and the filler is pretty low on the body. I built (ok Matt built and I welded) a filler assembly that bolts on the inside of the trunk, but it can be a pain when your crews not paying attention and fills your trunk with gas.

Yea, I was wondering about that. I was going to go with a ATL 12-gallon which is 10" tall, that's still going to be under the stock fill, but not by much.

they do have a pretty slick intank pump w/ surge tank that I'm going to use..makes it nice and simple replacing the tank/pump set up that the car currently has.

also, did you rig up a fuel gauge for yours?

I use the ATL 12 gallon.. its the best fit I could find.

The bulkhead:

Just be aware that any fuel tank not mounted in the stock location needs to be a FIA approved cell AND needs to have a metal bulkhead separating it from the passenger compartment.

We do have a surge tank with sliding check valves and fuel gauge installed in it. Two pumps with check valves for a redundant setup where if one fails the other can do the job.
