broken washer as expected:

Only on one side though.

What I found that is more worrysome is this:

cracked in 3 places where the drivers insert:

Crap, I need to get this thing together asap, I doubt tom is going to be able to broach out a new one very quickly....

ouch :ranting:

I have emailed Tom the pictures and lead him to this post. Maybe he will reply.
Okay, so I'm female and like SAAB's go figure. Mind you, I like a good set of strappy sandal's just about as much though they don't take you thru the corners as fast. LOL

That's really weird how the crack spiraled around the outside of output spider, I would have expected it would follow along the length of the root of the spline where it started.

Are both sides cracked, or just one side? Which side?

Only one side is cracked, the drivers side. The same part on the passenger side has a lot more material around the splines, as its a slightly different shape.
I should mention that otherwise the diff has performed flawlessly and there was very little wear on other parts.

Good. Even those Formula 1 masturbators have reliability ills now and again, eh?

The support bearing would probably hold the thing together even if the crack were to keep growing around those output splines, at least it's supported around the diameter.

I wonder if you'll be able to tell a difference with non-broken Belleville's back in there?

Best,
Drew

chris rizzon put his back together with broken washer. didn't have time to wait for replacement parts between races. seems to lock up very abruptly now but otherwise ok. didn't notice any other cracks like luke's even with many race and street miles. must not be trying hard enough.. ;) .

maybe mongoswede will let you canibalize his diff while your parts are "in the mail"?

P.S. Somebody should ask Tom to send about 20 new washers anyway.

How many diffs were shipped in the original group buy?

Should get at least one replacement for each unit and probably 2 for the folks who have already found theirs broken.

I know that chris would like a replacement for the one in the car now plus a spare.

Its always good to have spares. Looking through the old thread it looks like we had 9 come to the US. 2 washers per diff.

I don't know if we know where all of the diffs are, but they may show up at some point. I have mine, Jordan has his, Jennifer has hers, Chris Rizzon has his, Seth has his, Luke has his. That's 6. Per would have sold his with his rally car which went to CA. I don't know who the new owner is. Paul, Jeff, do you still have yours?

Yep we still both have ours...not installed or anything...maybe soon :ranting: Any spare bits would be great to have.

So are these better washers that won't break?

Supposedly they changed vendors/manufactures. Not sure if they are going to be better or not.

So, what should I tell Tom as for number of replacements?
