Well, find the bumpiest, sandiest, wrecked up roads you can. And you will have to take a few obligatory yumps. We had a few problems in the beginning with small electrical issues--wires coming loose or bad grounds, just make sure all that stuff checks out. Luckily K-jet isn't really chock full of critical electronics.

I've already taken it down one of the sand/dirt roads here at 60+...so many washboards, I thought my brains were going to liquefy. I'll be doing that a few more times.
It's got an oil leak somewhere, but not too bad..the skid acts as a big diaper...and it's easy enough to top off w/ oil after a stage or two.

I'm hoping all of this driving around will take care of small rally ending problems beforehand.
I have found that I get a little nervous right before the event. I get really nervous waiting in the starting line....i get extremely nervous when I pull up to the line and the clock is ticking down. The first stage of the day is mostly for getting the adrenaline and nerves worked out of my system and it is often not that much fun. Your first couple of rallies may not be that much fun as you tend to be a bundle of nerves...though if you have ever done any wheel to wheel track racing you may be ok. Luke and geoff and I have discussed this to some extent and all agreed that the first rallies are almost not fun because of the nerves involved....after that things go much better.

yea, this will be my third rally, I'm not planning on being relaxed at all...I have done quite a few road races and large/lots of shit on the line autocrosses so those butterflies are an old friend. Beside, if they weren't there, I (and my co-driver) should be scared.
I'm more nervous about the car holding together.

Well don't forget that Per did a couple rallies in a scooby dubie doo... plus tons of other motorsports stuff. My first season was really stressful and I remember questioning why exactly I wanted to do this again. The turning point can be easily indentified by bowel movement. The first couple rallies you will be majorly constipated, after that as soon as you sit down in the car in the morning... you'll be wishing you hadn't drank all that coffee.

I tend to pee a lot when I first drive somewhere in the morning. Couple that with being nervous and I've been known to go twice while waiting in line for a morning stage.
We popped a coolant line off on our way to parc expose one morning but fortunately we were able to rig something up and fill the cooling system.
Wait, what is this thread about??

The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off
