X-mas present for the service crew

Postby Luke » Tue Dec 26, 2006 4:08 pm

Spent some time over the last couple of days building some nice pin mount jackstands like the factory teams have. These should be really nice since there will be no question weather the car is well supported or at the right height. I still have to weld the sleeves onto the rockers, but otherwise they are complete. Thinking about having them powder coated too.

now the question is will the jack go high enough?
Luke we really need to get the sales department going here, this stuff could sell and support our (your) financial expenses. :D

Yeah, I built them so that most common 2 ton floor jacks will reach without a problem. I'm considering building a second set that are taller for use at home. Oh by the way the pins are made from old saab transmission layshafts. :D

I truly wish I lived closer to the Saab Farm. My weekends would probably be a hell of a lot more productive, not to mention that you'd never let my car sit with a busted trans for so long, you'd tell me something like "we'll tow it here and we'll fix it, then we'll get pizza and make a big list of things we can just check off."

If the crew team had a xmas list, these would be first. I'm excited to try them out!

A bit of advice, don't listen to the guys at Impact motors, they suggested I flush my used trans with new saab synth gear oil. 8k miles later it blew up, (the first time) the replacement, another used trans, also flushed with new fluid (the other trans was assumed to be bad) and then about 8-9k miles later that one developed a fatal leak.

Good news though, I might be able to pick up a 95 cse manual for cheap here in Rochester. I see that car as a good trans wrapped in a car I can get for about the same as a used trans with no idea how good it is.

So the question is, can the Saab farm accomodate a partially (wholly) GM Saab? Can I get it there somehow with the new donor too? Should I have my cousin help me instead? Am I crazy? Should I buy a Subaru and forget about the 9k until it disappears?
