Nice job Per, you've certainly accomplished a lot! If you are feeling buyers remorse I will buy it back from you for the same price.

ahhh, not family, so not important....at least not important enough to miss a rally for.
priorities man!
Jordan, thanks!
It's a bit of a puzzle putting back together...since I'm building the new engine out of a spare, I'm using the old engine as a guide for nuts/bolts/etc. all of the accessories from the old engine are being used, because I know they work (oil pump, distributor, intake, etc)

Yeah, I've learned the hardway from doing the 16v's that you have to be really anal about dissasembly because it makes reassembly that much faster. At least you have something to work off of... its the *slightly* longer/shorter bolts that always get me..or misc. brackets here and there.
I'm planning disassembly of my car next weekend, weather permitting...
I picked up a '91 5-speed at the JY when I went to help Luke last weekend...so I have all the major components at least. I hope to do some nice photo documentation as well.
I'm thinking the car will be a totally different animal next time you start it up!

interestingly, the service manual talks about the thread pitch of the bolts going into transmission as being course thread and into the block as fine thread......all of the bolts that came out of this were the same pitch....that took me a while to figure out.
engine now in. pics on monday.
not running yet..still have to hook everything up and get the front axles/hubs/springs back in.

Yea, they were all the same 8mm bolts with the same, standard pitch, just different lengths...the service manual stated otherwise...it also referred to the #1 piston end of the engine as the 'transmission' side...I think it was some translation issue, as they referred to the timing chain system as the transmission at another point.
