Image Hosting: help needed

Postby SAABMaven » Tue Jun 05, 2007 10:35 am

Would like to host some pictures so that I can contribute them to this site... but got frustrated with image hosting sites. Had time to check out only a few, but they want you to download custom software, activex controls and applets, which are mostly spyware. Even eBay does this.

TANSTAAFL. I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks if I could get decent performance but no spyware loaded onto my laptop.

Ideas?

Thanks!
Rob

Well if you want to spend a few bucks, sign up on a decent web host and you will have more storage space than you can desire. Usually cost is only about $3-8 a month. From there you can just upload whatever you want through client side FTP or their own upload tools.

If its saab-related stuff you want to share we could probably set up a upload tool for members.

Third option might be Flickr.... they are pretty good, their desktop software is decent and optional. They have a free plan, but for more storage and bandwidth the subscription plans are reasonable.

Sure, it's SAAB rally related, and not that much. I can FTP; don't need a special tool.

Thanks!

you can get a www.smugmug.com account for about $40 a year and you can put a lot of pictures on there. you can use this coupon for a discount: IW5vvgfYVG9gM .

you dont have to download any special software to load up pictures....they have about 6 different methods for loading your photos.

not to be your dad or anything....but as the safety steward for the rally team I have to point out that doesn't look like a safe and proper way to support your car.....especially with the puppy doing the work

Good observation and thanks... although 'safety' is a semantic null*.

The car is supported by two 'horses' under the rear axle; and the jack is unwound just enough that you can just see a bit of clearance underneath the jack.

I have had a car come down from a jack before, so would never work under a car supported by a jack. The stamped metal was as cheaply made as possible, 'Made In China' just like the Nokian I3.

That particular day, I would work for a while, then the very serious young man insisted that I move and let him take over for a while. Rear brake callipers on a 900 are _that_ challenging. A simple pad replacement turned into a calliper replacement on both sides, as aged callipers won't wind back...

Cheers
Rob

Okay, so I'm female and like SAAB's go figure. Mind you, I like a good set of strappy sandal's just about as much though they don't take you thru the corners as fast. LOL

Hey Seth,

I'm phone-shy and swamped with homework evenings during the week, that's why I haven't called.

Why don't you come for dinner in Shoreham one of these weekends soon. You can sleep it off in the guest room.

Cheers
Rob

I'll come by sometime. This weekend is no good as I have a 2 day dual sport motorcycle ride down in NH. The weekend after I am leading a ride around the Killington area. But I'll get over there at some point this summer.

As far as posting pics goes, I just use myspace. Its free and wicked easy. Although after more than a year I still only have one friend. Kinda sad huh?

Doorsaat, if you want to be phonetic about it. With myspace you get one free friend when you sign up, thats as far as i ever got. I think it's the guy that started the site.
