Ron used to race an ITB 900 and had quite a collection of saabs and parts. I took a trip up to see him since he was back in town for the week. Since he doesn't race SAABs anymore and most of his stuff is already gone (you can only imagine what it used to be like) and (almost) everything left is for sale. Since I'm not actually selling anything I didn't put it in the FS thread, but let me know if you are interested and I can put him in contact with you.

yup. He did some stuff with MR. 2's and RX-7s. He is still building a spec Miata and auto-xs an Elise. He told me he is racing in 24 hours of LeMons when they do the circuit in South Carolina coming up. They are actually running one in stafford springs, CT which would be a pretty fun time at some point in the future

I could use an exhaust downpipe for a 73 99, seems to be NLA most places I look now. I won't pay much for it, especially if I have to drive to go get it (under $40) though if he wants to sell one for cheap I'll buy. Otherwise, to MSS I go.

It's probably just something he'd ship if he had it...He doesn't have much 99 stuff left, it would be in that pile of exhaust parts in his barn, but I really didn't look through them.

He can be funny on prices... not dirt cheap but usually reasonable for the rarity of the items. I pulled the oil cooler/lines/sandwich plate from the '78 turbo for $50, but he gave me a deal on some other things. I picked out a #4 primary set for Per and chains that was also $50 just because of rarity. #6 from a 5-speed he just gave me for free because you can pretty much find them anywhere. I've gotten a lot of things from him, all the MSS parts I have came from him..not a steal.. maybe 50% off cost for unused parts. Luke's rally car 2.0 came from him.

Oh that '78 Turbo has an o-ringed MSS head and MSS turbo cam. It is actually his brothers car, who wants $500 for the whole thing.. but it is basically just parts. The body is pretty bondo'd and rusty. Engine fluids seemed clean despite the length it was sitting and I'd bet its probably a good candidate for somebody who wants a turbo mota' . He also had another turbo motor/trans sitting under a tarp. He actually had a original '77 Turbo notchback at one point.

I guess you have to remember that he was buying all this stuff these cars were brand new and parts must of cost an arm and a leg in comparison to PA junkyard pricing most of you are used to.

It would have, but I doubt it would last 2 seconds in a race like that. Boo on rotary engines for not-catching-fireability.

Somebody should pick up that notchback and all the soccerballs. I'm sure he could off-load the 5 lug soccerballs too.

There are a ridiculous amount of 5-lug wheels there. I think he sold a set of soccerballs to GM for a heritage car or something. Luke and I each bought a set of front 99 bilsteins last time we were there. There is another set or two there plus konis . I think he wanted $20 a shock, but we got him down to $20 a set....which still seems like a lot for beat-up, old and rusty shocks, but we figured they are rebuildable.

That gray 99 has such personality. I'm surprised its not sprouting weeds from the hatch which is now a veritable greenhouse. How long has it been sitting there? Sometimes saab lovers are the biggest abusers.
