Nate is also non-turbo, and was having some engine trouble later on sunday.
I wish they showed the whole video becuase about 10 people ran down out of the woods and pushed me out (i didn't have time to swap shifters to get reverse working before the event). they had to pick the back of the car up, it was hilarious.

Yeah I wasnt sure if it was turbo or non-turbo since I didn't get to attend the event. Awesome job to both teams.
I was wondering how you got out of that situation without reverse. Awesome story!
More of that blue Volvo can be seen on you tube. Search "doo wop rally" and then click on posted this week. He ends up on his roof with about 2 seconds left in the vid.

Hey good job guys! Quinn, those are some respectable finishes for your first two (?) rallies! Heck, even finishing is good! What are the details of your car? Cage and safety equipment, built up engine, and it sounds like maybe a 5spd? The part about the shifter is awesome, rally-tastic!
Love the number backer!

I'll have to go back and have a look again....it looked more like the 142 to me and I did note that the engine had a rather odd sound. The good old not so good PRV engine...chosen no doubt to comply with rules.

Lane is running 10 pounds of boost on the volvo, and they entered it as a 246 to allude to the engine. the guy is nuts, and won last year with the rally's organizer (who is 81) as a co driver. pretty awesome. they rolled and broke the windshield this time, if they had a spare i think they could have finished still.
My car is a stock saab 99 with the 287 302 cam that we tore out of my green 99. ha. we started the cage 4 weekends before the race, and at the time the car didn't run, drive or have any of the electricals working.
also, one of the services sunday is when we realized one of the rear calipers is stuck, which may have explained why the car had some really fun over steer, which i wasn't expecting but it didn't bother me. Sean gave us a hand diagnosing the problem and did a quick bleed job but we couldn't resolve it quickly so i finished and drove home with it dragging. i bet when we replace it i'll be going off the other side of the road. :)
Olympus rally next month is on the same roads, but it's an RA event this time, so i've got a lot of work to do to get the car up to snuff for an RA inspection. I'm really excited to go back out on these amazing stages again.

Actually I freed-up the stuck piston... but I'd bet the piston is pitted! The brake fluid looks to be factory original, by that I mean the first batch of brake fluid Saab bought in 1947...
IMHO,

Ha. Ya, bleeding the brakes was on the list. At the bottom :)
I suspect its having trouble again because on the drive home the pedal got spoungy, like it was boiling the fluid again. I'll replace the caliper before olympus and flush the whole system. I'd like to do another race on stock rears before I take john up on his offer for the volvo rears.
Did you guys figure out what Nate's problem is from yet?

Is Nate's car still my old black '77 99 EMS? Or did he get a new one?

When you go to the Ovlov rear brakes I suggest you convert over to the SS lines front and rear as well. You pedal feel will improve dramatically.
