Re: Longitudinal 9-3SS Conversion
That's like the biggest air filter I've ever seen that wasn't sitting on top of a carburetor.

That's Per Eklund's car. It also has AWD (or "cross wheel drive"?) and a bajillion ft-lbs and hp.
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off

Yes I do believe that it has the Aero X drivetrain. The photos I have seen show the pulleys in the front.

I'm trying to figure out if this is the stock layout for the 2.0 XWD 9-3. They are pretty rare and I cannot find a picture.

Is this the Pike's Peak car? I've seen a picture of the NG900 when it was done up like this.

well first off, the XWD cars have the engine mounted the same way as the FWD ones. Also, the 2.0t xwd cars have the ecotec, thats clearly an old gen Saab block, probably a b206. I think per's car has some wacky custom AWD system, similar to the 9-3x4r http://www.93x.se/93x4r/

Badass. Dig the old-skool valve cover.
I'm not sure if it's the same stuff as what's pictured, but I seem to recall reading somewhere (Racecar Engineering??) that the rallycross 9-3s have a double wishbone suspension designed in-house by Saab for Eklund's cars. The strut towers certainly look like someone's been monkeying around with them, and there isn't any slotting for camber/caster, which suggests a-arms below.
I think this is the car I read about:

Re: Longitudinal 9-3SS Conversion
As i recall the first year they ran Pikes Peak with that car the turbo ingested the airfilter...probably due to the 45 psi of boost they were running. However this did not damage their results to severely.
