You better get cracking on a set of NA 16v 99 headers because I need one for the new rally project. I also spoke to Charlie concerning the individual throttle bodies and he seemed to think the 1000cc hayabusa ones were 46mm diameter. He mentioned something about needing like a 56mm for a 16v non turbo....but I haven't done any actual calculations to verify his numbers. Not exactly sure how to calculate that other then maybe using the bore and stroke and RPM to determine how much air the engine is capable of pulling in on its own per unit of time, factor in a turbo if necesary, and then factor in velocity loss through to constrictive of a throttle body.

The throttle bodies I got from john are 48mm. The maximun venturi size for a DCOE 45 is like 42mm and people get over 250 HP from 2 of those if that says anything.

oh yeah right, missed the 99 part  any idea what he charges for a set of the 16v 900 headers? i could really use a set for my 99 too, that stock exhaust manifold is just stupidly small.

thats the header for the 16v 900 unfortunately not the 99.

Yeah I called Jack, unfortunately he isn't going to Carlisle this year as he had made some prior arrangements for another swap meet. I asked about the race header, and he thinks he has one for a '75+, but not sure if it is a race one. He said he will still make them if you ask. They don't have any 900 ones already made either. Didn't sound like he was retiring just yet!

hmmm...well i know the 99 and 900 exhaust flanges are the same on the 8v cars. i am pretty sure that I have bolted a 900 header up to a 99 or maybe it was a 99 header to a 900....maybe one will fit the other but not the other way around. Or maybe I am just getting the motor interchangeability confused with the body interchangeability.

For those who don't know this is a former John Buffum car (hence the Libra decal) that was kept in a barn in VT for many years, it was put up for sale in the late 90's and SAAB bought it back for the museum.
Of note:
-A 77+ body shell (I heard that this was a reshell of a factory works car that crashed) VIN as near as I can tell looks like 9975....
- the gear box appears to be a gear drive possibly without th annualar slave because I think I see part of the fork... which is suprising.
- Can make out that the flywheel mas been heavily machine for lightening.
- The 16 is running on webers rather than the fuel injection as seen on some pictures earlier in the post.
- dual master brake cylinders without booster
