1968 saab
Re: 1968 saab
There was a short press release a year or so ago before saying that SAAB was going to make a 'retro' styled car, sort of like what other manufacturers have been doing and have been successful with. This is kinda of what I had in mind after reading that. Though, I prefer authentic rather than retro. :)

Amazing dedication .. interesting to see some of the ideas that didn't make it in the result such as the front lip. The grille setup looks great.

I don't think the blokes across the pond are trying to copy that rendering, IIRC that was actually something done by a Volvo(?) designer or something random like that. The real car is just supposed to be a badass 96 with a new drivetrain.

I think they are using it for some inspiration. You are right the exterior is only part of the story. I'm thinking the engine and chassis stuff will be just as stunning.

What is the car on paper taped to the glass in the last picture?
Hi John,
It's a photo of a tamer version of ours!

I love that Neo-bros site. I've been following their thread. I love the first couple pics of them negotiating with Chewbacca and the shirtless dude. I had a taste for modded 96s for a while - still wish I could make one, but I'm lucky now if my wife lets me fix what's broken on my c900s.
Anyway check these ones out:

The other thing I have always wondered about is a set of 96 rear window louvres. I've only seen two pics of them, but man would that look stinking cool on a tastefully modified 96 or what?

The 96 being built above is really just the basic bodywork grafted onto a modern chassis. They have done a very good job of it but it is basically an awd Saab for the entire platform with a 96 body cleverly grafted on top.
