I've had a few requests to post some pics of a vehicle I restored mentioned during my intro, here she is:
1964 GAZ 69M light truck. 8 Year frame off restoration in a garage way to small for such things! It was recently sold to a very nice fella one state away. Sad to see it go but once i'm done restoring them i'm on to something else!

Does the throttle pedal double as a tactical field trenching spoon?
That is so cool, never heard of that before.
What's with the two levers between the seats?

LOL
Those two levers are for the transfer case, high/low and 2wd/neutral/4wd.
My favorite feature of the vehicle was the big gas powered blow torch you used to preheat the block in winter to start... those russians were some crazy dudes!

Re: Soviet "jeep"
I thought they might be seperate flyoff handbrakes, one for left turns, one for right...
Neat project. Looks like it cam out nicer than it would have been new.
So do you actually own your namesake?

Re: Soviet "jeep"
two of my favorite vehicles are the Ural 4320 and the Gaz 66:
There is a Ural a few miles from me...not so practical in this country unless you own yourself an oil refinery:
same place has a Gaz 66 listed on their site:
The 66 is sort of like a Russian unimog...likely simpler and without the portal axles.

Only 20-30 here in the US, I was the only one who totaly restored one, not just painted it like many do!
They are still very popular in europe for off road stuff but they get a bigger engine and tires most of the time for that. The flathead 4 only makes around 60bhp, 45mph is max sustained speed.

I used to have the Swedish version, that thing was built like a tank! I keep me eyes open for a Fin version but haven't found one yet that fits the bill.
