Remember When

Postby Luke » Wed Sep 05, 2012 9:43 pm

Seth's comment on Jordan's thread made me think back about how far projects come and how you can really make something out of some of these neglected cars. Hopefully this will serve as motivation for others to get working on some projects!

These are the SAME cars, before and after...

Love the blue one in the last shot. What year am I looking at? (99 n00b.) Might have to get me one of those someday.

I registered for Kings Island in January, before I even started the restoration.

Great photos... many many "before" cars are still out there, have they had their day, or are there more good days ahead? Good 99's should not be going away and coming back as Camrys.

Here's another one I did in about 6 months time - one owner 75EMS with 62k miles - original owner let his drunk girlfriend drive his baby. She wrecked it and was arrested, car was towed. While in impound the whole passenger side was wiped out. Other damage was to the left rear and left front. Owner sold car to his mechanic, who did nothing with it. Sold it to me for $1000, and I restored it to OEM specs. I sold the car in 2004 to a guy out west. I emailed him a few weeks ago but have heard nothing back from him.

I had some really good pics of my 86 900 before I did a thing to it. I had them on a disk that somehow became corrupted. I lost tons of pics to computers.

I had 8000 pictures on my computer, and thankfully I also had them on saabpics. My hard drive crashed the same time saabpics crashed. Fortunately my friend was able to retrieve the pics and send them to me on a disc.

Jordan's car is a '71. I think we all like it.

THREE YEARS EVERY NIGHT AFTER WORK AND ALL WEEKEND....... :bawl: ALL FROM A BARE SHELL,HERE IT IS GETTING STRIPPED DOWN.....

FROM A PHOTOGRAPH ON THE WALL TAKEN ON THE 1980 RAC RALLY,TO REALITY.....

AND THEN TRAWLING THROUGH THE IMAGES,I REMEMBERED WHEN I HAD THE TWO CARS......

THE 'EMS' I BUILT FROM A BARE SHELL,EVERY NUT&BOLT,THE PAINT JOB,ENGINE I BOUGHT READY BUILT.....I ENJOYED TEN YEARS OF RALLYING,SPRINTING AND TRACKDAYS IN THAT CAR.....CLASS WINS( EVENTUALLY) AND GETTING IN TO THE 'TOP TEN' IN RALLYING ON A STANDARD GEARBOX
RECKON I SPENT £10,000 ON THE CAR IN THAT TIME.....

SADLY JUST DIDN'T HAVE THE TIME ANYMORE,TO GIVE MY FULL ATTENTION TO BOTH OF THEM,SO ONE HAD TO GO......

THE 'EMS' NOW RESIDES ON THE 'ISLE OF MAN' USED AS COURSE OPENING CAR FOR MANY OF THE RALLIES THERE.......
