Me? I wouldn't have even gone there - I don't care much for a 4dr 99. You certainly have an advantage with lots of parts to choose from, both 99 and 900. If I was in a hurry to get it back on the road, I would leave it original. It takes a lot of time and money to source parts for upgrading.

I say you throw it together mechanically and make a patina'd shop hauler.

Throw used shit at it to get it going without spending any dough. Paint a "Jon's Swedish Hot Rod Shop" graphic on the side, and make it look like it's been there since 72. Cut the springs and lower it. Toss on some bitchin wheels. Hit it with a few period correct accessories and leave the finish alone.

That roof rack in that Chicago junk yard would be perfect for it.

Oh yeah,... don't forget to put a nice interior and stereo in it.

^^ You must be following the volkswagen scene too much :P

I retract my earlier statement .. this car looks like a pile. You are very brave, Jon.
Hope you have fun with it.

If it were me, I'd look for a more solid example, and not a 4 door. I don't really care for the 4D 99's - Not sure what exactly it is about them, but like the 4 door 900, I just don't like the look of em.

If that car was say a 72 EMS with the Saab motor in a neat color, in that condition, That would be worth your time. I don't really think that car is worthy - if it were me.

Having seen it in person i can say it is solid in all the hard to fix places. It needs some rusf repair big nothing extreme. I tbink the camera makes the rust look worse

The 4drs are pretty cool and I'm glad Jon is saving it from the crusher. Not every 99 needs to be gutted and turned into a rally car.

Jon, A bit off topic here, but do you remember a while back I think you managed to find the large head pop rivets for the C-900 lower door seal / lower SPG pannel? That was at Napa? Do you recall if you found some sort of specifications or a part number for the Rivets?

I ask because the 99-turbo air dam has these as well, and I need to add the vent panels as well as factory mounting hardware onto an SAS reproduction air dam... those large headed pop rivets are the only way this is going to look factory.
