Re: sonnet III
I like the rat rod black paint scheme.
What was going on with the rear quarter? There is a line going thru it that almost looks like it is cut there.
The carbon fiber accents are pretty cool.

Re: sonnet III
I don't think that is a paint scheme. I think the whole thing is carbon fiber

Re: sonnet III
That would explain the line.
Viewing it on a Droid it just looks like a flat black paint job.

Re: sonnet III
Its about time someone built a lite weight Sonnet. They were always bogged down by that heavy body work Still pretty impressive to build one entirely out of Carbon Fiber (if thats the case)...a true sign of Saab lunacy.

Re: sonnet III
Isn't the trick to just overlay the existing stuff with carbon? Thus making it heavier?

That would be the "ghetto I want a race car look for cheap" trick. But if this person actually made an entire shell out of Carbon fiber and they did it properly it would be much lighter.

Re: sonnet III
That would be impressive if someone actually did that. It would mean that someone made new molds and could make more CF bodies.
I would love to see Sonnet 1 bodies made. Maybe a tube chassis that fits a 16vT. And uses existing suspension parts, like off a 96. Looks like a vintage Sonnet, but has a T5'd turbo lurking inside.

I've never been much of a Sonett fan, but I must admit, the thought of a true CF Sonett shell with a 16VT T5.5 nearly makes me salivate.

Re: sonnet III
even better...a 3 cyl Yamaha R1000 engine from a snowmobile mated to a capable fwd transmission to keep a fairly stock configuration but lighter and with a lot more power

It's not just a cell phone thing, it's all Mad Max'd out with a matte black wrap. I could take or leave it, but the interior looks pretty clean... so I'd probably take it in the end. Pretty cool!
