1978 Proposed Turbo Stripes
1978 Proposed Turbo Stripes
At this year's SOC I bought a bundle of documents in the John Moss Charity Auction. The documents were said to have come from the archives of "Bob Sinclair's right hand man". Contained within the documents was a package of negatives labeled "1978 Proposed Turbo Stripes". Of course we are all familiar with the stripe kit that was available for the 99 Turbo. Thanks to Jason they are available again! Based on the origin of these negatives and CT plates on the cars I am assuming these are the test photos made by Saab USA for the stripe kit. Enjoy!

There are 36 photos in total but here is a limited sample of each design.

That is a fantastic find and would be a shame to be stuck on a shelf in someone Saab hoarding pile.

Phenomenal. Thanks so much for sharing. I also love the first two pics. Especially on a black car! I have a cardinal red 99 Turbo and seems to me that the design they ended up going with was the best after all!

Every single one of those looks cool, They should have offered those as options when the sold the cars.

I have to disagree about how cool these concepts are.
The Turbo Stripe Kit that was finally decided upon was definitely the best choice.

I think its definitely cool to see what could have been but I'd agree that they what they ended up with was the best choice. Though 2&3 are hilariously awful that I would love to have them...

I agree that the production stripe kit was the best. I do kind of like this one
But in sort of a retro/nostalgic way. If I were buying a car at the time I'd probably think "no way!"

This one is not bad, but some of the other ones are just so disjointed.
