You are in control the machine. Respect is a big part of that. A bandsaw is very dangerous because it looks so harmless. I believe bandsaws were first created for meat cutters.

On another happier thought. Gary R ordered up an assembly. This is his in work. He only needs a lower bung as his return is to the side cover.
I did a fill on the laser cut hole. Gotta love having a welder.

I actually like the shorter one better - you did a great job catching lots of the little details (tapping on the tube to make sure it sat flush, deburring, the backpurge hose, breezed through all the tacks) without taking out much of the content. The only thing I missed seeing was your cardstock template for marking the tubes at the very beginning.

This is exactly the type of feedback I was looking for.
Thanks.
The short version was a suggestion from Mezzanine. He figure the new gen of viewers' attention span is about 2 mins. 6:30 is way too long for most.

Ah - But those impatient viewers don't have their hands out trying to get a feel of how your hands are moving.
Or do they stop and rewind to see portions again to better understand the process.
Or smile when they see your fabbed hold down finger.
- - Or think about your bare knees under the welding process !

How about some animation of those hot gasses running down the header pipes - into the turbines - and then getting together
downstream in the down pipe ?

I agree about respecting bandsaws. I'm actually rebuilding a 12" Craftsman bench model from the 40s right now. I'm planing on running it with a DC motor with gear reducer and speed controller. I have a DC motor with reverse, speed control and 3 pulleys on a similar vintage Craftsman drilll press. Pretty cool to use small woodworking equipment for metal work. They were seriously overbuilt compared to modern tools in that size, just limited by the their original motors/speed/torque.

I was sketched out about the idea of the handle slipping out of the vise. I have seen some porta bandsaws with attachments that provide a solid vise mount and work surface.

Thanks Vintage,
I'm glad you appreciate the nuances of the fabrication. I typically have been doing 30 second time lapse which shows stuff is happening, but it is hard to see the process. The 8x and 16x speed video is a nice compromise.
Welding in shorts is most likely not endorsed by most shop stewards. I call it self-motivation not to stick the tungsten in the puddle, splashing molten metal. :ranting:

Animation. Nice idea. Maybe this winter sitting in front of the woodstove for some inspiration?

I enjoy the longer versions to see all the little details that are involved in the process but I can definitely see both sides of the argument. I certainly worry about the lack of attention span of my generation (myself included) but I can see the benefit of a 'teaser video' to get people's attention, but I'll bet there are also other people that would be interested to know all the elements that go into producing a piece like that.

I can watch these kind of video's for hours, The full process would be my choice, only if you're doing the same thing for an hour, speed things up so it only takes a couple of minutes.
