Saabs in England

Postby sonett » Wed Jul 04, 2007 7:48 am

I suppose it would be rude of me not to post any pics, so here are a few...

This one is of my sonett II, chassis 151 at the Aintree sprint near Liverpool.

Another of the sonett at a circuit in Anglesey, North Wales, called Ty Croes.

Still with two-strokes, this is my old '63 bullnose stage rally car at Three Sisters in Wigan.

And one of my '83 99GL towing the sonett at Oulton Park.

Just to chime in. I love the old Snub noses and the 2stroke Sonnetts the best. The C900 is merely a sad excuse (mind you fun to drive) for something to drive on the highway.

Sorry, I'm a SAAB 2 stroke lover all the way. Love the C900 to, but the 2strokes to me are the real SAABs and hold a special place in my heart.

Nice to see you racing them. Thanks
Okay, so I'm female and like SAAB's go figure. Mind you, I like a good set of strappy sandal's just about as much though they don't take you thru the corners as fast. LOL

I've always been partial to the Sonett II and Sonett II V4's. I think they are quite possibly one of the best looking Saab models produced.

I also have a soft spot for the strokers. The sonett IIV4 is a nice car as long as you don't look at the bulge on the bonnet.

I have a 66Monte Carlo, a 63GT850.

Both need engine pistons at this point. The 66 is my normal driver but the piston clearance is to large for any serious driving. Now it just gets putted from house to house.

I've been working on some Sonnett II's here in MA. Don't remember the chassis #. I believe it's 147 or 149. Was in storage many years with a porche collector. Anyhow, pulled the engine and cleaned every thing up.

Sound, runs great. Was originally rallied here in the states. Had the badges on the dash.

The bullnose GT850 is a great car, does yours still have the early triple carbs, the type that can be adjusted individually?

Here is the interior of my old bullnose, the dash is from a GT750, it was actually out of Chris Custers car, long story. Halda speedpilot and the clock is from a Mig 19 fighter jet.
