I didn't know it was a full tube frame. I guess it's not really a land rover except for the drivetrain, and even that engine- who knows where it's specced from. Is it a rover engine? I bet there are a ton of Rover v8's in JY's across europe.

not really sure if this is considered a Tube frame as it has a full roll cage and is built right on a rover frame and suspension...only the bodywork is built onto the tubing as well.

I'd say more like the rover frame is built into the roll cage/tube frame.

yeah the problem with the land rovers is they have a mixture of steel and aluminum. The bodies are mostly Aluminum so you cant weld the steel roll cage to anything other then the bulkhead and the frame. You can of course tab the body in through bolting plates.

There was a guy just down the road that tried selling those for a little while. Unfortunately many people are afraid of driving small cars because of the risk of having an accident with an SUV and being squashed. The problem with that thing is the risk of having an accident with a geo metro and being squashed. Plus I think those little trucks only go about 45 mph.

They have a 660cc engine under the passenger. A 4 or 5spd gearbox with a high/low selector so you can have 8 to 10 gears, and 4wd. There are some that have turbos :-)

i got stuck behind one of those on the way home the other evening. i was in the vanagon and couldn't get around. it still had a japanese tag on the back. and, by the way, i am jealous as hell about the defender, crazyswede.

That's not a defender, it's a series III. but either way, it's still cooler than like 99.98% of SUV's money can buy. The latter .02% being Diesel Defender 110's.
