New generation T5 900s 2.0L produces only 130hp, that is about the same as stock 1986-1990 900s.
I didn't think they made a t5 2.0 n/a, I thought they were all 2.3 ~150hp? Maybe it was a euro thing.

I've been thinking about using a T5/T7 head on my next project, an NA, headered, 2.1 99. It may even get ITBs...
I like the idea, but at that price, isn't it just easier to install a plug in the head?

This is the same capability as using a $1K DTAfast, Motec or EMS ECU. Obviously the maps will not make use of the loads above atmospheric, but you can still tune everything below and shoot for a nice flat torque curve. Both John and Craig's engines will not be close to stock, so 130hp is a bad point of reference. I'm sure Saab tuned for emissions, economy, and longevity.

Sounds good to me! SOMEONE needs to build the ultimate B202 NA 16V for use in a 99 or lightweight 900. To me it sounds like John, Seth, Mike, Craig need to gang up on the development so efforts are not duplicated.
Jordan wrote:I think effort should be put into some nice 16v N/A cams. Now that Luke has been through the process (or is still in the process) he could probably come up with some good street/race specs for a standard or lightly modified head. Without cams ITBs, header, and headwork would all be in vain.
Also you'd probably want to set up with dual valve spings/retainers..man I would not look forward to setting the valve clearances on that! Eight is enough!
