Hi guys-
so my mom wants to fix up her 9000 Aero, and that includes replacing the seats because the driver's side is torn at the seam. She no longer wants Aero seats, so we're looking for some CS/CSE seats to replace them with.
If someone really wants Aero seats, and is willing to either live with an unstitched driver's seat, or knows how to fix such things, we'd be willing to entertain a swap. I think she'd be ok with any color, other than tan. Her car has a black interior.
They live in SW Vermont, near Bennington. I can get pics of the seats soon.

Re: Black 9000 Aero seats- free with trade
I did a decent job sewing up my split at the seam aero seats years ago.
Didn't pull the seat cover off, just used a curved needle and some heavy thread to basically rethread the existing holes.
Sure the seam looked odd due to some overlapping of material, but the seat wasn't splitting open any more.
If you pull the seat cover off you could do it proper and pretty like.

This isn't my car, and my parent's sure as heck aren't gonna sit there and sew up a leather seat. SHe wants the other type because she says the bolsters make it too hard for her to get out of the car nowadays.

Re: Black 9000 Aero seats- free with trade
I restitched my desk chair which was out of a 91 9000. It only took maybe an hour with a strong sewing needle. I used a furniture moving pad to push the needle through. Unhooking the upholstery on the seat bottoms is very easy - maybe a 10 minute job. The seatbacks are a bit more of a challenge.
The foam on the 9000 and c900 seats kinda deteriorates over time and i stuffed some foam badding in there while i was at it. The bottoms seem to be made out of potato sack material which disintegrates and really makes a mess. My overall opinion is that it isn't worth it. I would get some new seats from a 9-3SS. Many of them were manual so you wouldn't need wires etc. You might need to fit an adapter to make this work but it would be minimal effort and yield seats that will go another 20 years.
Thats really the best answer i can think of... the next one would be to just buy a new(er) car!

There is no such thing as too low or too stiff.

I like the fact that Max has clearly stated that he/his mother wants to change the seats, not only because of the stitching, but also that she needs a pair of seats that are easier to get into.
Yet he has recieved 2 answers about stitching the seats up or exchanging them for a pair that doesnt even fit the car without minor modifications.
Come on guys! He just want to swap the aero seats for some regular ones!
Good luck, Max, and happy hunting.

He might consider just stitching the seats.
