That's exactly what I'd do with it, and what I will do if I find a cheap running 93/95/96.

Re: So I bought a bullnose stroker
after seeing photos of the 16vt crammed in a long nose i think it would be more fun to put a motorcycle engine in a bullnose.

Wow, looks better than when I saw it, you should definitely just throw it back together and get it running, its good enough for now, no sense in having it sit around getting prettied up for years.

That thing is sweet. Can't wait to see it up and running, leave the collector parts to the collectors though!

It'll never run again now that this place is out of business as of Monday.
I should just quit the VSAAB hobby.

Re: So I bought a bullnose stroker
I'm planning on getting this car running this weekend and fixing the brakes. I got some new front hoses and had a brake line fabricated today. So with any luck, by the end of the weekend I'll have a running and stopping stroker that can be registered.

Re: So I bought a bullnose stroker
Looks in the pictures to be a very nice original 96. For a car that is pushing 50 years old someone or two has really liked it.
I hope it is not modified but kept as an original car, like one would buy from the show room when new. IMHO to many older cars are modified and very few originals remain which is a shame.
I find that excepting such cars for what they are and using them within the terms they were designed to be used can be very rewarding.
Have you made progress?

Re: So I bought a bullnose stroker
It is a pretty original car, fairly unmolested. I plan on sorting all of the mechanicals and driving it as-is for a while and maybe do a proper restoration some day.
We got the brake system put back together yesterday, we successfully bled the system and it's holding pressure though I suspect it has at least a couple of seized wheel cylinders. Not a big deal, I have two OEM spare fronts in my parts stash and rears are cheap and easy to get.
We also got it running, here is a short video I took of that:

Working on that car was a lot of fun. I can't wait to drive or ride in it once it is sorted.

Re: So I bought a bullnose stroker
My complete set of new brake cylinders (four front, two rear) from eBay arrived last night so those will be ready to go in tonight. I pulled all of the brake drums and was very happy with what I found:
All new hardware and shoes. Some of the cylinders were seized since the system was left open while the car was in storage by the previous owner but that will be remedied by the new hydraulics. I'll see if the cylinders that come off will clean up enough to rebuild, would be nice to keep those as spares.
I figure by the time this car is ready for the road I'll have about $500 in it including purchase price, not bad for a running/driving bullnose car!

I hope you plan to put those round hole steel wheels on it. I always loved that look on the vintage cars.

Yeah, I have a set of round hole steelies that were blasted and epoxy-primered, they need paint and tires though. Just running those slotted '72-later wheels now because they have serviceable tires on them.
I just called up and insured the stroker, can't wait to test drive it tonight!
