A few people have inquired about my references to H3 parking light mods.
In a nutshell,...
find a broken Hella H3 fog or driving light, separate the socket, spring clip and heat shield from the busted housing.
It turns out that the outside dimension of the socket is just slightly snug in the parking light housing. And all you have to do is position the heat shield between the bulb and the plastic lens. Then just press it into the opening in the plastic. If the fit is a little sloppy, some rtv silicone will secure it all in place. Last you simply change the crimp on ends to spade terminals and plug into the original wiring.
The first set I did had only minor melting of the lens after almost a year of use. I would have probably gotten another year out of them, had my neighbor not backed into the car, smashing the bezels.
Ideally glass lenses and a chromed metal reflector would make this really last,...

Ahhh makes sense. I couldn't figure it out because I wondered what the hell the parking light was. Turns out its the part that we don't have.

If you put some modern LED's in there you will have lots of light and no heat issues.
