hello, new here but I have been lurking for a while.
I have been racing asphalt circle track with a '92 2.1 c900 for years, with very good results. it is a mostly stock class, no turbos.
I have been trying for a long time to change or eliminate the rev limiter at 6250 rpm. it's not that I expect more power, but due to gearing options I simply need more RPMS. spend way too much time one the limiter, on every straight. (on the bright side, the engine has held up to this constant rev limiter for 7+ years, although it has pretty severe blow-by now).
who can burn me a chip to change rev limit? I have researched extensively and not found any for LH 2.4.2.
I am very close to building an intake manifold and running a holley 350 for this reason.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
Several years ago Steve Hayes had burned some chips for LH to augment fuel maps and rev limits. Try tracking him down on ECUproject (he is a founder there) or maybe through http://www.neflsaab.com (he hosts our club forum).

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
I think I remember seeing a BIN file floating around somewhere for a 2.1l car with a raised rev limiter, can't remember where. If I can find it, I can make you a chip no problem, just a matter of tracking down that program, cause I'm not good with the software end of that stuff.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
I have one out of a 2.0 car before converting to Trionic, I can try to find out who burned it. Doing a T5 harness swap on a race car is easy when it doesn't have to be pretty, especially on an N/A car. That would be my vote. Any limit you want and better ignition control and engine protection. If interested, P/M me and I'll send you a list of all the stuff you need to make it happen.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
thank you all for the info. paulh if you are able to find that file I would be VERY interested in a chip. most likely more than one. we have a '92 9000 which is LH 2.4.2 that needs the same treatment.
Jordan, while i have a bit of experience with t5 in my 9-3, Im trying to keep this as low budget as possible. an t5 swap with machining the flywheel and whatnot for the crank trigger could easily exceed the cost of everything I have in the car to date. i am moving up a class this year, and sadly it is not economical or competitive to run a saab. ill be keeping this car only for the big money races at various tracks.
another question, i am assuming LH 2.4 and LH 2.4.2 require a different chip? i ask because another friend of mine is running a '90 2.0 with LH 2.4 that could also benefit from a higher limiter.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
You should be able to get T5 working using the stock EZK crank sensor already mounted in the car. If you have access to used SAAB parts, I'd think you could do the swap for the cost of having someone flash a chip for you...if you can find someone who can. Either way, let us know what happens and let's hear about some of the car/races.
For your friend with the 2.0, the mapped ECU is at my shop , but isn't mine. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't want to sell it though, so if interested, let me know.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
i was under the impression that the t5 crank sensor needed a different input? mine is wired to a turbo distributor so I can play with timing, but it doesn't matter reads the same.
I think he would be interested in that ecu. just need to know what the rev limit is.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
The EZK / Turbo ignition distributor wheel is the same as a crank sensor that was on '93 9000 Aeros, which had an earlier version of Trionic that will run on the slotted wheel rather than the 36-1 wheel that the later cars had.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
what Drew said and what squaab said. Although the sensor is the same, the slotted wheel needed behind the pulley is different. They are only about $25 brand new though.
I will ask about the 2.0 ECU.

Yup. You're right as always. Too much engineering during the day, cluttering up my Saab knowledges.

Re: LH 2.4.2 tuning
parts are scarce. at least compared to LH. if I were to change it out I would go with a carburetor.
I know people have done this with LH. im worried about passing tech with a t5 setup, direct ignition is pretty obvious.
