Does anyone have one to sell (or trade?)
I need to change the gearbox oil in my car and would like to put a steel cover on with a drain plug while I have it apart - pulling the cover off every time I need to change the fluid makes me avoid changing the fluid....

Don't you still need to pull the stock drain plug to get all the fluid out? I don't remember the drain on the diff cover being low enough to drain everything....unless maybe if you are parked on a hill in San Francisco.

Late 5-speeds did not have a drain plug.
When I installed my LSD, I drilled and tapped the existing bung for a drain.

I build them with the bung pretty low. If people don’t run an oil cooler they put a B nut on the AN bungs. I started procurement of raw materials for another run of 10. What is your timeline.

As far as the drain, Rob at Scanwest has me weld up the drain on the 4 speed chillcast cases.

Why weld up the drains?
The kind of dirty that doesn't wash off

Re: Wanted - C900 5-speed steel diff cover
Remember the 4 speeds were pipe thread which was an interference fit with no flange or crush washer.
The drain is now accomplished via the diff cover with proper AN fittings with machine surfaces to reduce chances of leaks.
As far as filling the hole, does this add strength? More than likely as you don’t leave open holes for load path to go around. An exception would be a stiffening flanged hole.

Correct, I have a late 5-speed with no factory drain, so even though the plug on the cover isn't quite as low you still get almost everything out.
Squaab (Dennis), I'm not in a super hurry, if you're doing a run I will happily wait for one with both ports so I can hook a cooler up later as well.

Almost ready to strike an arc. Plates are in and fit up checks out. I revised the crown gear cutout to make more clearance between the fillet weld and the lower right hand fastener.
