Cool, I should be all set for the main part of the cage then.
I had my buddy james order it through his work so we got better pricing. I think it was over 300 bucks for the 54 feet, so way more than you paid.
James had our bending die cast at his work the other day, but i guess the people that work there don't know what they are doing. He tried to yell at them but then he realized they don't speak english. should get a complete set of dies for 1.75 soon though.
Looks to me like the drivers side racing seat will by far be the most expensive part of my operation. That and my fire suit. at various racing events i've met with safety equipment suppliers and they are all saying 800 to 1000 for a seat for me.

Yeah, I am 6'8. When does the hans rule take effect?
My co driver is willing to pay for his seat but its sort of not the issue because he is so average in size that everything fits him.. so that means the cheapest FIA seat i can find will work for him.
The biggest problem i'm having with seats is how low the slots for the harnesses are. The angle is way too much. "Large" seats are more expensive but they are usually like t-shirts, they just get wider and not taller.

Worked a little on the roll cage for the 74 this weekend:
Fitted the roof diagonals and the windsheild bar, tacked in place then dropped down to weld fully:
Then I put it back up into place and tacked the main hoop on. Then the cage feet (which are not welded in yet) are removed revealing large holes in the sill. This allows the whole cage to be dropped about 2.5" inches which is enough to be able to fully weld the tops of the junctions on the main hoop. The cage is this lifted back up, feet slipped back in place and welded and the main 4 points (the most important) are done.
The cage dropped down through holes in the sill for welding:
Back up in place tight to the roof:

neat.......it wasn't untill i started crewing for the GTI that I actaully thought about the whole process of installing a cage. Alot of thinking-ahead has to happen so you don't "paint youself into a corner" ....maybe more so "wield youself into a corner".
Looking good though!
So what's the plans for the engine? When I talked with you at STPR you were thinking a N/A engine. This still the plan?

Unsure on the engine. Had planned to put a nice old tuned b motor in it, but its modified to accept an H motor too. I am also thinking about taking the motor out of the current rally car and installing in this shell... and putting the b-motor in the current shell. I really can't decide.
